about

Here is a copy of the most venerable Imogene CD. I know what you’re thinking; “My God, I can’t wait to pop this baby into my hi fi and bliss out to what most certainly must be the veritable ear candy that I so crave.” Relax. Take a breath, maybe have a glass of water. It’s cool. We’re with you. Yes the packaging is good but we’ve all been deceived by that sort of thing before. Maybe now’s a good time for a cracker with some smoked cheddar cheese on it. Not too much, just enough to linger in your mouth for about fifteen seconds after you’ve swallowed it. O.K. Let’s take the CD out of the jewel case and casually step towards the stereo while maintaining an air of detachment. Gently point a delicate finger towards the open/close button and press it. Almost magically the tray will be revealed, like an automated tongue, practically licking the CD out of your hand. Do not resist. Let the disc slip ever so slowly into the receptacle and then when you feel it is safe, depress the open/close button again to return the tray to its proper place. Naughty tray. Now is the moment, while all is quiet and no one is watching, go ahead and press the button marked play. You may have a few seconds at this point to find a seat or even ask someone for a drink. Go ahead, it’s cool, even encouraged. If you smoke feel free to indulge. Make sure the seat you choose is padded if you care to sit down. In fact I’m sitting right now. Won’t you join me?
